FAQ

Who is 83 East?

83 East is a full-service video production company specializing in custom videos that capture the excitement of surfing in Hawaii. Our goal is to capture the best possible footage of your surf session, and edit your clips into a custom, individualized video to watch over, and over, and over, again.

How do videos and photos work – what will I get?

Our 83 East videographer paddles out with you to the lineup, films your surf session, and edits your footage into a personalized video, complete with bonus footage and a custom soundtrack.

Photos are still frames taken directly from your video footage. The number of photos will depend on the length and number of your surf lessons. In general, a 1-hour surf lesson will generate at least 40 photos. When purchasing photos only, 83 East will email you a private link to easily and securely download your photos.

Check out our Video and Photo pages for examples of our editing and photo stills.

How do I sign up for a video and/or photos?

83 East works primarily with Ty Gurney Surf School, Hawaii’s best surf lesson school located in the heart of Waikiki. If you are interested in a video of your lesson, please mention this when booking with the surf school.

We shoot all surf lessons with Ty Gurney Surf School, and there is no obligation to buy. Once your lesson is complete, if you would like video and/or photos, please see the Ty Gurney Surf School staff or an 83 East videographer. We will take down your information, arrange for payment, and get to work editing!

What do video and/or photos cost?

Video and photo rates will vary depending on the number of persons surfing, the number of lessons/sessions, and other factors.

Our “Full Package” video DVD and photo CD begins at $200.00 for a 1-hour, 1-person, 1-time surf lesson.
